This dog has been known to enjoy Aloha Also Means Goodbye. Unfortunately, he only chewed it, but one of the kids heard him say that it was a good read.

She blogs, writes fiction, and when she's not doing one of those, she's probably narrating her life on Facebook or in a journal, or she's watching life unfold around her and taking notes (both mental and on paper) so that she can write about it. Her friends love that bit. OK. Not really. They'd much rather she stop writing about them.

She started writing Aloha Also Means Goodbye in 2007 with an infant in a car seat at her feet. She spent countless hours sitting in coffee shops, rocking the car seat with her foot and typing as fast as she could on her laptop. The story unfolded, the characters grew and, as her baby thrived, her novel thrived alongside. At the end of the year she had a toddler and a very rough draft of her first finished novel. It took another four years, with a detour via a "real" job in a "real" office, many major rewrites, and a lot of friendly suggestions from beta readers and friends before the book became something worth selling.

For a while Jessica tried to obtain "traditional" representation by a literary agent until she realized that the old model of book publishing was dying and she was in the perfect position to help forge the future of the industry.  Sand Hill Review Press liked Aloha and picked her up. Today Aloha Also Means Goodbye is available as a Kindle book and will soon be available as a paperback. Jessica loves reading all the positive reviews that are pouring in, though she is holding out for the one that declares her to be the next Jennifer Weiner. Will you be the one who writes it?

Her father is a writer.

She is a writer.

It's in her blood.

It's who she is.
